Jo Garst Design has been offering a full range of architectural services in the Nevada City, CA area for since 2015.  Our practice focuses on client centered residential design for custom homes, additions, and remodels; as well as commercial, civic and cultural projects.  We also offer a variety of land planning services, catering to the local legal cannabis industry.  We regard our clients as the most integral part of the design, making them partners throughout the process.  It takes a team to see every successful project through, and we are grateful for our consultants and other team players throughout the process.

While our clients form the basis for our designs, sustainability plays a major role in all phases of the process from siting to material selection.  Passive House principles are increasingly informing our design philosophy.  Wherever possible we like to create self-sufficient buildings that can function without being tied to the grid. We have long been an advocate for affordable housing, and recognize that the need to expand our housing stock has never been greater.
